About Alanna Airitam || 2nd Chakra Studio

Alanna AiritamI started this section a few times.  At first, wanting to show you how smart and professional I was with all my experience and background and technical jargon. Whatever. That doesn’t really give you a good idea of who I am. So, I decided I’m just going to be real with you.

Photography, for me, is a humbling process. When I realized this is what keeps me connected to my higher purpose, I also realized that I just needed to surrender to it and become the passenger in this creative journey and stop trying to drive it. It’s not about me. I’m just along for the ride.

My life has always centered around creativity, visual arts and the desire to get the images from my head into a format where I can share it with others. I used to paint and work with charcoals and pastels. Portraits were always my focus. People. In every medium I have worked with, people have been at the center. Anyway, I am without a doubt, passionately, giddy, stupidly and hopelessly in love with capturing the beauty of a moment that people share with me.  And really honored too.

This is not to say that I don't work hard. I am constantly educating myself through workshops, mentors, and listening to what other's have to say. I pay attention to my client's needs and build relationships that go far beyond just delivering pictures. It's my desire to help them reach their goals. I draw inspiration from a variety of sources that range anywhere from Sir Ken Robinson to Vogue Magazine and anything and anyone else in between. I find creativity sparks in the most unusal of places. My dream shoot would be working on an epic fashion shoot in one of my favorite places, Bali. I lived there for a short time and it inspired me in ways that are still with me to this day.

When I’m not daydreaming of the next shoot I am probably daydreaming of traveling. I love going anywhere I haven’t been. I think I like the challenge. I do tend to push myself into experiencing as much as I can. My motto is, “When in doubt, say Yes!”

Let’s see, what else? Oh! I have a thing for shoes. If only there was a closet big enough and I had an extra pair of feet. Champagne and off-roading in my jeep, but not at the same time. A little bit of Billie Holliday and Sarah Vaughn and Radiohead not necessarily at the same time. I like watching B-boys breaking it down, house music, chocolate chip cookies, biking across country, getting my passport stamped, camping, rock climbing, tropical fruit, my 5D Mark II, warm weather, gold sun and diamond stars… these are a few of my favorite things.

Thanks for taking the time to get to know me a bit. I look forward to getting to know you too.
